Welcome

Master crafted from hand cut slab glass, SGW Glass Art is created with imagination and care. Unlike architectural applications of Dalle De Verre that set glass chunks in concrete or resin, solder is used to make unique pieces that are distinctly sculptural and beautifully faceted.

My Medium

My Background

Dalle De Verre is the French term for slab of glass.  My work is composed of Dalle De Verre shards.  I am fascinated by the endless variety of shapes and colors inherent in this medium.  Due to the facets resulting from chipping, it has brilliance and intensity of color that far exceeds ordinary flat pane stained glass.

My work can best be described as a fusion of stained glass and mosaic art.

My Background

I am the daughter of an artist who was commissioned at one time to create a large-scale glass project for a local church.  I inherited his supply of Dalle De Verre glass chunks and just began working with it during the pandemic. I found that I could craft it into some amazing pieces.

My 2022 Art Prize entry was "Jean's Water Lilies."  It was inspired by a dear friend of mine who recently died after a long battle with cancer.  Her suggestion to have the flowers rising from the water made this a much more beautiful sculpture than I had originally envisioned.  Although this sculpture didn't win, participating in ArtPrize
